This week’s Impact Events is a week and a half worth of headlines and there are some big stories to talk about. Most of them negative stories, though. Injuries plague the game of football this time of year. Sometimes your dynasty roster seems like a minefield. Many of these players aren’t even considered “injury prone.” Non-contact injuries have become the norm in today’s game and it seems almost completely random which players will get bit by the injury bug.
It’s important to remember, though, not to kick yourself if a player in which you invested heavily is lost due to injury. In most cases you cannot predict who will go down and when it will happen. Instead, focus on the process which led you to invest in said player. Did you buy low when the market gave you the opportunity? Did you read a compelling article which convinced you the player was a value? If so, give yourself a pat on the back and if the player is lost due to the randomness of the universe, don’t hate yourself.
Robert Griffin III, QB WAS
News: Washington Redskins head coach Jay Gruden has announced Kirk Cousins will be the team’s starting quarterback.
Analysis: I just finished a lengthy piece on how this affects all players involved on the Redskins team, but in short, this is dissasterous for Griffin’s dynasty value. As the dynasty QB23 in August, I’d expect Griffin’s ADP to drop into the QB32 range. The once heralded DC star has been a mess in press conferences and even worse on the field. This is the third time he’s been benched in three consecutive years. It’s difficult to imagine a scenario where he can regain his 2012 form where he was the QB5 in most scoring formats.
